How to have a stress-free holiday trip? Remember these tips!
Holidays are supposed to be a time of relaxation and fun. But unfortunately, sometimes the preparation and the trip itself can be more stressful than you’d like. For example, take it that you are trying to grab a fantastic last-minute, but you forgot to work out certain essentials… Or are you worrying about missing your flight or getting lost on an excursion in an unfamiliar city? All things bad tend to take more space in your mind, but fortunately, you don’t have to fall into these pitfalls, as long as you know adequate ways to minimise that stress! Here we are to help, with these handful of handy tips to fully enjoy your well-earned holiday!
1. Plan ahead, but stay flexible
Planning ahead can, to some extent, take away a lot of stress. It’s all about preparing the most important things and arranging them well in advance. Think about your accommodation, flights or other means of transport.
But this comes with some balancing act. And that is mostly personal, but a general rule of thumb is not to forget to build in some flexibility! Spontaneous adventures and unexpected twists and turns are simply part of the holidays. After all, for many people, holidays mean not having to stick to a strict schedule.
2. Make a checklist
But still, a checklist is not exclusively just for the control freak. In fact, this is your best friend when it comes to organising a stress-free holiday.
This tip is simple: make a list (beforehand) of everything you need to arrange and take with you. From passports and tickets to toiletries and clothes. Write everything down and tick everything off, so you don’t forget anything important and go on holiday with peace of mind.
3. Travel light
One of the luxurious AlpChalets Portes du Soleil have been rented for the upcoming winter adventure. When the time comes, the whole fam is all set. Only your suitcase looks like an episode of ‘What am I taking?’, when in fact you only need half of it!
So pack only what you really need. Too much luggage can be a huge source of stress, especially if you have to travel a lot. Be smart – go for versatile garments that are easy to combine and clean – especially during winter times – and keep unnecessary items simply at home.
4. Take time for yourself
Planning your holiday full of activities and sightseeing? Yes, great fun, but don’t forget to take some time for yourself too. Be conscious with your resting moments, engage in an afternoon of reading by the pool or go for a relaxing walk in nature. Perfect for really recharging and enjoying your holiday.
5. Be prepared for the unexpected
Travelling can sometimes be unpredictable. Flights can be delayed, the weather can suddenly turn and plans change. Such is life! So try to keep a positive attitude anyhow and just be flexible. Take a good book or a fun podcast with you in case you have to wait. And remember that a bit of humour and patience can take you a long way.
